Upcoming Trop Rock Events with Links
FlipperStock - Website - 4/13/12 – 4/15/12
Flipperstock began at the Savoy Banquet Center back in 2006 as a way say good-bye to PHINS long-time percussionist. As Flipper began to raise a family, he made the difficult decision to abandon his love for music and concentrate on being a dad for Colin and Kate..
Never one to go quietly, Flipper decided to have one last party to say so long, and invite a few of the musical friends he’s made along the way. So, PHINS was joined by Jack Mosley (who returns this year for the first time since), Jim Hoehn, and Jim Lanier, and Flipperstock was born!
Realizing that we might have a good thing going, we decided to continue Flipperstock as an annual event, spread it out over two days, bring in our musician friends from all over the country, and even raise a little money for charity in the process. We moved the event to the Sheraton Westport Hotel, and have been there ever since. We have enjoyed the talents of many trop-rock’s best musicians over the past 6 years, and we plan to continue the fun as long as we can!
If you’ve been to Flipperstock in the past, you know first-hand what a great event it truly is. If you haven’t, then you owe it to yourself to attend the 2012 event, and show your support for bringing first-class Trop-Rock music to the St. Louis area.

What is a “Hand Grenade Happy Hour”
If you’re a Phlocking virgin, you may wonder exactly what’s going on when you see the “Hand Grenade Happy Hour” that’s on the schedule for Friday afternoon from 3 until 5 PM. If you ask any Phlocker, they’ll be glad to tell you that this is definitely a never-ever-miss-it party at the Phlocking, and they’ll happily follow that up with a wonderful story featuring a Hand Grenade-related experience.
Thanks to two of the nicest people on earth, Pam Fortner and Earl Bernhardt, owners of the Tropical Isle bars in New Orleans, we are able to once again have this very special party at Phlocking.
A huge thank-you to Mr. Ed Fitzgerald, his family and staff, without whom this Phlocking would not take place. Please remember they are working hard to make our event successful; let them know you appreciate it. And always tip your servers and bartenders!
More stuff later, including information on all of our musicians, general Island stuff, and updates as they become available. Deadline to register (WITHOUT PENALTY) is Saturday May 18, 2012.
